Congressional District Health Dashboard Unveiled

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and NYU Langone Health, in cooperation with co-Chairs of the Congressional Public Health Caucus, Representative Rob Wittman (R-VA) and Representative Lauren Underwood (D-IL), hosted a webinar on the Congressional District Health Dashboard, a new website that provides unbiased data and interactive features on 36 key measures and drivers of health for every congressional district.

The Dashboard includes metrics on health outcomes, such as frequency of mental distress, breast cancer deaths, diabetes, and high blood pressure. In addition, the Dashboard features social and economic factors, health behavior, physical environment, and clinical care. The NYU Grossman School of Medicine’s Department of Population Health provides the data drawing from state and federal datasets including the CDC and the census. The Dashboard team chose these measures since they are updated regularly, backed by substantial evidence, and actionable.

Expert speakers provided a demonstration of the Dashboard’s many potential uses, including generating interactive maps, tables, and charts. Speakers also discussed ways in which congressional staff can use the Dashboard to help inform policy development and media strategies. This Dashboard can be used by congressional staff, advocates, researchers, journalists, and so on to obtain unbiased health data from every congressional district in the country.
