CNSF Event Honors House Science Chair Lucas

Last month, the Coalition for National Science Funding (CNSF) – of which FABBS Executive Director serves as a co-chair – held a reception to honor Representative Frank Lucas (R – OK) for his leadership of the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology.

Rep. Lucas will remain in Congress but is relinquishing his gavel of the committee, having reached his term limit. While on the committee, Lucas worked in a bipartisan manner as both Ranking Member and Chair. He prioritized STEM education and workforce, basic research, space exploration, and energy efficiency. He also advanced a number of AI bills that would formalize institutions created by President Biden’s 2023 AI Executive Order.

Ranking Member Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) co-hosted the reception in the packed House Science committee room. Over a dozen members of Congress from both parties – including incoming Chair of the committee Rep. Brian Babin (R-TX) – attended the reception, praising Chairman Lucas for his leadership and science accomplishments.  In his remarks, Chairman Lucas urged his colleagues to continue the bipartisan support for the National Science Foundation.
