Over the past decade, there has been a growing recognition of the need to broaden participation in STEM fields in order to strengthen the U.S. economy, as well as maintain the U.S.’s leadership in an increasingly competitive global landscape in science and technology.
Despite this recognition, efforts to broaden participation have largely focused on identifying and addressing issues of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in the “traditional” STEM fields — such as engineering, biomedical, and the physical sciences. A growing body of research has shown that challenges with DEI in teaching, mentoring, research, and career advancement continue to be pervasive issues in other areas of science.
To address the concern, FABBS created a DEI resource database with a recognition of the need for a centralized and easily accessible list of resources for students, faculty, and others invested in advancing issues of DEI in the social and behavioral sciences.
While FABBS has developed an initial list of resources for this database, its value will exponentially grow the more that members contribute to its growth. If you have additional resources that you would like to share with the community, we urge you to add an entry using the form provided.
