FABBS Presents to NSF SBE Advisory Committee
May 25th, 2017
At the invitation of the NSF Social, Behavioral, and Economic (SBE) Sciences Advisory Committee, FABBS Executive Director Dr. Paula Skedsvold was asked to share FABBS’s perspective on legislative and communications issues facing the social and behavioral sciences in the 115th Congress.
Dr. Skedsvold highlighted for the Advisory Committee FABBS’s role in educating Members of Congress and their staff about the contributions of social and behavioral sciences to the nation, including research funded by NSF and its SBE Directorate. Skedsvold also provided insights into how FABBS works with the larger scientific and higher education communities in advocating for support for all sciences.
Members of the Advisory Committee, two of whom also serve in leadership roles within FABBS member scientific societies, were pleased to learn about the many advocacy and educational activities in which FABBS is engaged, all of which seek to convey why federal support for research is so important for the nation.
